Spectacles nothing new for San Antonio eyes
SAN ANTONIO – Locally based eyewear company HVHC Inc. will open its second area manufacturing plant in late 2013. With the new lab will come up to 600 new jobs at 655 Richland Hills Drive on the far West Side.
HVHC is investing $25 million at the plant and has signed a lease at the manufacturing plant site for ten years, with options for another ten years.
Between now and Jan. 1, 2014, the company will be recruiting, hiring and training manufacturing workers, and installing equipment at its 120,000-sf, free-standing building.
At IBC Centre headquarters, 150 jobs will be added, up from its 350 now.
At headquarters, the company must bring its workforce to 500 by year-end 2015 and maintain at least that many through 2021. HVHC moved its headquarters to the IBC Centre in 2011 after outgrowing its previous space at 11103 West Ave., outside Loop 410.
HVHC already operates a manufacturing plant in Schertz that makes 2 million pairs of eyeglasses a year. The facility employs a similar number of workers that will be hired for the new plant, to be located near Texas 151.
