WACO - Waco Community Development plans to transform the former Sanger Avenue Elementary School site into 25 homes and a pocket park. The subdivision at North 17th St. and Sanger Ave. will be named the Renaissance at Sanger Heights.
Houses in the subdivision would cost $110,000 to $150,000 and would sit on small lots facing a common green space. The company plans to build 13 new single-family homes and
12 townhouses in the the four-acre block.
The long-vacant school burned in 2008 and the city razed the building in 2010. A surviving doorway arch from the Victorian-era school will be incorporated into a playground area.
