FORT BLISS – The new Fort Bliss Directorate of Emergency Services building at Sergeant Major Blvd. and Anzio Way is officially open. The 52,000-sf building is being billed as a "one-stop shop" for anyone who needs emergency services at Fort Bliss.

The building houses Fort Bliss police and fire headquarters, security, traffic investigators, Military Police investigators, an actual MP station and a two-engine fire station. The building will also serve as the City of El Paso’s tertiary backup emergency communication network.

Tenants started moving into the building last fall.

The combined emergency services center is a sign of the continuing impact of the installation’s growth in recent years. Fort Bliss has seen its soldier population increase from 9,000 to about 32,000 in the past seven years.
