SAN ANTONIO - San Antonio-New Braunfels Metropolitan Statistical Area experienced a bump in employment in March. The area gained 7,300 jobs during the final month of first quarter 2013, taking the total job count for the region to 887,400.

As a result, unemployment in San Antonio-New Braunfels dropped slightly from 6.1 percent in February to 6 percent in March, according to a new report from Workforce Solutions Alamo.

The biggest gain in employment from February to March occurred in the leisure and hospitality sector. That industry added 4,400 jobs in March.

Since March, San Antonio-New Braunfels has added 16,700 jobs, which represents an annual growth rate of nearly 2 percent.
