AUSTIN – The city ranked second on a list of best cities for millennials for its low rent, income and high numbers of adults under 34 years old, according to Niche Ink. Austin was joined by other Texas cities, including Dallas-Fort Worth at No. 8 and Houston at No. 21.

Niche Ink used the U.S. Census American Community Survey to compile the list, basing its rankings off of population, median rent, median income, percentage of the population with at least a bachelor’s degree, racial diversity and unemployment rate.

Demographically, Austin scored high, with 17 percent of its population between the ages of 25 and 34. Austin had the highest median annual income of the other Texas cities on the list, at $30,816.
