DALLAS-FORT WORTH – Forbes has released its list of best big cities for jobs in 2014, highlighting a strong job market in North Texas.

The Dallas-Plano-Irving metropolitan area was ranked ninth in the nation, with 2.2 million jobs in 2013 and 2.8 percent growth for the year.

Fort Worth-Arlington took 11th, with 931,000 jobs and a growth rate of 2.5 percent in 2013.

Forbes ranked 66 metropolitan statistical areas based on U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics employment data from November 2002 through January 2014. Criteria for the list included recent growth trends, mid-term and long-term growth and each region’s employment momentum.

Other Texas metro areas who made the list include Austin-Round Rock-San Marcos in third with 4.1 percent job growth in 2013, Houston-Sugar Land-Baytown in fifth with 3 percent job growth and San Antonio-New Braunfels in 12th with 2.2 percent growth.
