LOS FRESNOS – Walmart has plans for a 122,000-sf Supercenter on 18 to 20 acres behind Los Fresnos Inn & Suites off West Ocean Blvd., according to Mark Milum, the city manager. The store will feature groceries, a pharmacy and garden center in addition to Walmart’s core retail items.

Construction will likely take eight to ten months, though groundbreaking is still probably a couple months away, according to Milum.

The community will also receive its first McDonald’s, which will be built on East Ocean Blvd. between Stripes and First Community Bank. Once construction begins it should be finished within 90 to 120 days.

Population growth in Los Fresnos and surrounding communities is the engine behind the new development.
