KATY – Following the opening of three elementary schools and a junior high school in 2012, Katy Independent School District will open its seventh high school in August 2013 to keep pace with the district’s fast-growing southwestern quadrant.

The 610,000-sf school will open at 4400 Falcon Landing Blvd. to relieve Seven Lakes High School.

Located on 98 acres, Tompkins is projected to open with about 900 ninth- and tenth-graders. Originally budgeted at $137 million, the school is projected to be $30 million under budget at a cost of about $107 million.

Growth in enrollment has also led the district to plan for the construction of two additional elementary schools that could open as early as 2014.

The district plans to build Elementary 36 and Elementary 37, each of which are projected to cost about $18 million each. One of the schools is planned for Cross Creek Ranch development on Flewellen Oaks Ln. and the other will be located in the Pine Mill Ranch development on Pine Mill Ranch Dr.
