KATY - The 34-acre LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch will be adding a 125,000-sf office building. Slated to open in late 2014, the project is expected to set off more development at the site.

Located at 23501 Cinco Ranch Blvd., LaCenterra was developed by Vista Cos. and Amstar. It opened in March 2007 with 170,000 sf of shop and restaurant space and 90,000 sf of office space, all of which is 100 percent leased.

As part of its newest building phase, Vista is planning 130,000 sf of additional retail space, some of which is already open. A 300-unit residential complex is also on the drawing board.

There is about 6 million sf of space now under construction or being renovated in the Houston area, according to a first-quarter market report from Delta Associates. That compares with 1.8 million sf one year ago.
