BRYAN – Axis Pipe and Tube, a subsidiary of Mexico-based manufacturer Prolamsa, has purchased 240 acres, or about 30 percent, of the Texas Triangle Park. The project is the largest manufacturing investment to date in Brazos County.

The facility’s largest building will encompass approximately ten acres, and the second largest will fit five acres under one roof.

The company plans to invest $120.9 million into the facility — $91.6 million for machinery and equipment, $20 million for building and property improvements and $9.3 million for the land.

The company pledged to create 285 direct jobs with average annual salaries of $37,000.

Over the next ten years, the facility will indirectly and directly create 536 jobs with a payroll of $186 million, $87 million worth in taxable sales and purchases, and $3.5 million for Bryan ISD.

Bryan beat out 25 other suitors for the facility. Brazos County will abate $4.2 million in property taxes over the ten-year contract and the City of Bryan will forgo $4.9 million in property taxes.

Prolamsa anticipates the official groundbreaking to take place in early summer 2013 with operations beginning mid-2014.
