IRVING – Trader Joe’s has leased a 728,530-sf warehouse on 38.8 acres for use as the grocery company’s first Texas distribution center.

The warehouse, at 5101 Frye Rd. in the Towne Lake Business Park, has been unoccupied since it was completed in 2008. The new facility is expected to employ about 200 people. Hiring will start in 90 days.

Trader Joe’s opened its first Texas store in Fort Worth in June 2012 and now has five stores open in the state — Plano, San Antonio and two in Houston.
