Angelina County tourism pops with $129 million
ANGELINA COUNTY – Visitors to Angelina County in 2011 spent $128.7 million, according to a recent economic impact study by Portland, Ore.-based Dean Runyan Associates
Tourism added $1.6 million in local tax receipts in 2011, and supported 1,320 jobs that resulted in more than $25 million in annual earnings. Additionally, tourist dollars saved local residents an average of $78 per household in property taxes.
The average visitor to the Piney Woods is 46.9 years old, married, has a household income of $73,714 and traveled 302 miles by car to get here.
Approximately 74.9 percent of visitors are Texans, and most come from either the Dallas-Fort Worth area, about 23.5 percent or Houston, about 15.9 percent.
