BONHAM, FANNIN COUNTY – After two years of research and planning, Trans Cable International has selected the former site of General Cable Corporation to manufacture low voltage cables. Actual manufacturing at the plant, located at 800 E. 2nd St., will begin by October 2013.

The company will occupy 40,000 sf in the 250,000-sf building formerly occupied by General Cable.

During the first phase of operations, the manufacturing plant will employ about 20 people. Trans Cable is looking for technicians with high-end skill sets.

Phase two will start 18 months later, according to COO Jeff Almendinger. Up to 35 more employees will be hired and an additional 20,000 sf will be leased for expanding the manufacturing of telecommunication cables as well as beginning fiber optic cable production.
