IRVING – Home Depot is set to open a new IT office at 2951 Kinwest Pkwy. The office will employ 80 IT engineers initially and ramp up to about 130 next year.

The office is part of the home improvement chain’s plan to expand its online capabilities. Home Depot stores on average stock 35,000 items, but it has more than 600,000 online. Home Depot has about 7,000 employees in Dallas-Fort Worth operating 40 stores and two distribution centers.

It’s the latest of several company expansions in the Dallas area that are creating new jobs.

Trader Joe’s will be hiring more than 200 people this summer for its first distribution center in Texas. Kohl’s is opening a regional office in Richardson. Japan-based information technology service provider NTT Data will locate its North American headquarters in Plano.
