TEXAS - The job numbers continue to climb among Texas’ construction firms. Between April 2012 and April 2013, Texas-based contractors added a total of 41,500 employees to their payrolls, according to the latest report by Associated General Contractors of America (AGC).

Only California added more jobs on a year-over-year basis — a total of 44,800 employees between April 2012 and 2013.

Texas’ construction companies had a total of 622,000 jobs as of April 30, 2013 — a 7.1 percent increase from the 580,500 jobs reported last April.

Texas was one of 29 states that added construction workers to their payrolls between April 2012 and 2013.

Looking at monthly job gains, AGC reports that Texas was one of 17 states on the gaining end — to the tune of 6,000 jobs between March and April, 2013.
