FRISCO - Two projects will begin to transform the west side of Legacy Dr. from south of Cotton Gin Rd. north to Main St. in 2016.

Grand Park, the city’s nearby future 350-acre centerpiece park, is still waiting on lake permits from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers before construction can start, however the 152-acre The Canals at Grand Park and 34-acre Park West residential developments are underway.

The Canals at Grand Park — a more than $300 million project — is a master-planned, multigenerational community by Arcadia Realty Corp. and Charter Properties

The first phase includes about 250 single-family homes, a senior living community and some of the development’s planned townhomes. The second phase will include an additional 140 single-family homes, along with additional multifamily townhomes and flats.

Park West was rezoned from a grocery-anchored retail area to provide for structured parking, a 320-unit apartment community and 115 dense, single-family detached homes.

The centerpiece of the development will be a generously sized water feature and specialty restaurants with specially designed patios built backing to the water.

Some homes could be constructed as early as third quarter 2016, and the apartment complex should be complete in early 2017.
