SAN ANTONIO – NRP Group is in the planning stages of its sixth South Side housing unit; this one marketed as Texas A&M-San Antonio’s first university housing option. Located on University Way, it is expected to be open by summer 2014.

The housing complex is one of the three projects in the first phase of Verano Land Group’s 2,500-acre master plan. Verano donated 694 acres in 2007 for the construction of the university, which will break ground for two more buildings in November.

“A&M is the market now,” Dan Markson, senior vice president of NRP Group, said. “We’re building a student oriented building, but also faculty and staff.”

A groundbreaking ceremony for Central Academic Building is scheduled for Nov. 3. The two buildings are expected to be open for classes in fall 2014.

Location of the housing project is slated for the second block of University Way and is expected to open for incoming fall 2014 students. The unit mix will offer 498 beds in 236 total units with four options.

Michael Casias, NRP Group project manager, said they are estimating that one-bedroom, one-bath will lease for an average of $625; two-bedrooms, two-baths for $1,081; and three-bedrooms, three-baths for $1,527.

NRP Group has previously developed other housing units on the South Side with prices ranging from $500 to $1,200, including:

• The Landings, 7803 S. New Braunfels — $719 to $1,268

• Costa Mirada, 9323 Somerset Road — $631 to $976

• Costa Cadiz, 2819 South WW White Road — $626 to $874

• Costa Almadena, 6222 S. New Braunfels — $509 to 976
