Denton Voertman’s checks out to new owner

DENTON – Voertman’s bookstore and additional retail concepts on West Hickory St. and West Oak St. near the University of North Texas were sold to an out-of-state investment group on April 30, 2013. Nebraska Book Co. was the seller.

The sale involved a number of adjacent retail, apartment and commercial buildings, which incorporate a total of 37,951 sf. Voertman’s itself occupies 29,900 sf.

Roy Voertman opened the bookstore in 1925, and it was sold to Nebraska Book Co. in 1990.
