TYLER - Tazza Pronto, a coffee machine manufacturer, will soon be coming to Tyler and bringing 150 new jobs.

The council approved creating Tyler Reinvestment Zone No. 12 for Tazza Pronto in April 2013, which includes a tax abatement agreement with the city in return for the company's $32 million investment in building a facility at 2901 N. Industrial Ave.

City Manager Mark McDaniel said the coffee machine manufacturer must commit to creating 150 jobs in five years, and if the company creates 200 jobs by December 2015, the company can receive an additional year of the tax abatement benefit.

The city is giving Tazza an $87,250 business incentive if the company creates 117 jobs at a minimum of $30,000 per job, including benefits.

According to the agreement with the city, there must be 59 such jobs created by Dec. 31, 2013, and another 58 created by Dec. 31, 2014. The city would pay the company $44,250 if the jobs requirements are met by December 2013, and another $43,500 if they are met by December 2014.

The agreement also states that if Tazza permanently ceases operation or fails to employ at least 117 regular full-time employees with an average wage of $30,000 a year or more for two years after the agreement term, the city can receive a full refund of its incentive.
