MARBLE FALLS - The new Marble Falls Specialty Clinic on Texas 71 just off US 281 — the first phase of a multimillion-dollar medical complex — will open its doors June 3, 2013.

The clinic, a 66,000-sf, three-story Scott & White Healthcare facility, will feature 15 specialties. Among them: cardiology, orthopedics, podiatry, pain management, obstetrics, gynecology and optometry services.

The clinic is the first part of the multimillion-dollar hospital project. The next phase includes an emergency room facility adjacent to the clinic.

Other services coming by August 2013 are dermatology, urology, general surgery, hematology and oncology. Attendees of the May 31 ribbon-cutting will notice that crews have already carved out the foundation for the next construction phase of the Wayne and Eileen Hurd Regional Medical Center.

The construction of a 24-hour emergency room facility is expected to be completed in the fall. The launch of the hospital tower will follow. The completed 120-acre project will offer 46 medical-surgical and intensive care unit beds within a 200,000-sf facility.

The center was named after Horseshoe Bay philanthropists Wayne and Eileen Hurd, who donated the land for the regional facility.

The City of Marble Falls extended water lines and collaborated with a proposed housing development nearby to fund a water tower to serve the needs of growth on and around the medical complex property.

The results of an economic development report by the city estimated the Scott & White project and ancillary facilities will create more than 1,000 jobs within the next decade.
