NORTH TEXAS - Shopping center construction will rise in 2013 after several years of weak building activity, according to a new report by Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Services.
The national real estate brokerage firm is forecasting that retail construction in the Dallas-Fort Worth area will add about 800,000 sf of new space in 2013, up from 450,000 sf in 2012.
“Over 4 million square feet of retail space is in the planning stages in the metro, and more than 480,000 square feet is under construction in several shopping centers throughout the region,” according to the new report.
