GRAPEVINE - Baylor Regional Medical Center, located at 1650 W. College St., will be celebrating its latest expansion in June 2013.

The two-year $90 million project included a four-story patient tower, 40 more patient beds and a 16-bed Level III neonatal intensive care unit. There will be space to add another 68 patient beds, new operating rooms and nine emergency department beds.

The 40-bed addition makes the 313-bed Grapevine facility the third largest hospital in the Baylor system, trailing only Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas and Baylor All Saints Medical Center in Fort Worth.

Steve Newton, Baylor health system west region president, said Baylor’s analysis indicates Baylor Grapevine’s service area will continue to be among the fastest growing in DFW. He said northeast Tarrant County likely will be DFW’s population epicenter within the next 20 years.
