HOUSTON – Highway Technologies Inc. has declared bankruptcy and let go about 740 of its 825 employees nationwide effective immediately.

Employees of the Houston-based provider of highway safety services and products were notified on May 17, and bankruptcy was filed May 22.

According to Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act paperwork filed with the Texas Workforce Commission, positions eliminated are as follows:

  • Austin — 53 employees at 12909 Dessau Rd.
  • Fort Worth — 80 employees at 7200 Jack Newell Blvd. South facility
  • Houston — 54 employees at 6800 and 6811 Dixie Dr.

All of those facilities will be closed, according to the WARN notices.
