DALLAS-FORT WORTH - Five Below, a retailer targeting preteens and teens, is expanding into Texas with ten stores opening in the area by late summer 2013.
The Philadelphia-based chain of almost 250 stores sells toys, candy and other products for $1 to $5. It also plans to open four to five stores in Austin. Stores are about 7,500 sf and have annual sales of about $1.5 million.
Five Below CEO and co-founder Tom Vellios said the company picked Texas next after expanding mostly in the Northeast and Midwest “because of its solid economy and family-oriented population.”
