OLD OCEAN, BRAZORIA COUNTY - Phillips Chemical Company LP, The Woodlands-based joint venture between California-based Chevron Corp. and Houston's Phillips 66, is expanding its ethylene production capacity at its complex by 200 million pounds per year. The complex currently produces 4.1 billion pounds of ethylene annually.
The expansion will create 140 new engineering and construction jobs at its peak. Since the company has received consent for the expansion from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, construction is expected to start in third quarter 2013 and be complete in 2014.
In addition to this expansion, Chevron Phillips is also in the midst of its $5 billion U.S. Gulf Coast Petrochemicals Project, which includes a new ethane cracker and a new 1-hexane plant at its Baytown facility as well as two new polyethylene facilities in Old Ocean.
