FORT WORTH - The $58 million expansion of the emergency department at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth was topped out with a ceremony that included the announcement of a new name, the Marion Emergency Care Center.

The three-story, 75,000-sf facility is expected to open in January 2014. It is nearly triple the size of the hospital’s existing emergency department and increases patient beds from 63 to 90. It is located at W. Terrell Ave. and Fifth Ave.

Community gifts and pledges have already exceeded $13 million in support of the center’s $57 million budget. Texas Health Resources Foundation President Jay McAuley expects $20 million or more will be given.
