Sam plays it again in Abilene

ABILENE – The new Sam’s Club at 5550 S. Clack St. will open its doors in July 2013, two months ahead of schedule.

The new 138,000-sf, $9.2 million store is slightly bigger than the old one. The current Sam’s Club, located at 5301 S. First St., was built in 1988 and contains 133,000 sf. It is currently up for sale for $2.3 million.

The local member-only bulk warehouse store is in the process of adding 40 employees to its 170-person operation.

Additionally, LED lighting throughout the store, including in the cooler and freezer box doors and jewelry counter, will operate 70 percent more efficiently than traditional fluorescent lighting.
