AUSTIN – The Austin Children’s Museum is shedding the name it was founded with for a new one — the Thinkery.

The museum will be a hybrid of technology and science; where children and families will have a new experience each time they visit. The Thinkery will focus on STEAM learning: science, technology, engineering, art and math, as well as healthy living.

The museum will shutter its Colorado Street location Sept. 1 and open doors to the new 40,000-sf Mueller development location in East Austin on Dec. 7.

The nonprofit broke ground on the new facility in September 2012.
