San Antonio tops military friendly cities list

SAN ANTONIO – It’s not called Military City USA for nothing.

According to a list released by G.I. Jobs magazine, San Antonio is the number one city for military men and women out of all 381 metropolitan areas in the United States.

The ‘Top 50 Military Friendly Cities’ list measures the number of job openings at Military Friendly Employers, the number of Military Friendly School campuses, the number of veteran-owned businesses, the cost of living and the unemployment rate.

Here’s why San Antonio topped the list:

• Military friendly employers: 102
• Military friendly schools: 41
• Veteran-owned businesses: 663
• Cost of living: 88
• Unemployment rate: 5.7 percent.
