AMARILLO - Coca-Cola has officially opened its new $9.1 million Amarillo plant with expanded warehouse capacity and double the truck bays of its former nearly 90-year-old downtown home.
The company recently moved to the finished 89,700-sf facility at 8700 CenterPort Dr.
Coca-Cola took the City of Amarillo’s offer to swap a 6.7-acre downtown site for new digs on a nearly ten-acre site at CenterPort Business Park.
The downtown facility operated with a maximum daily holding capacity of 140,000 cases, but the new plant has space for as many as 200,000 cases.
The last time Coca-Cola moved locations was in 1927 from 406 East 5th St. to 711 Lincoln St. That was 88 years ago.
