AUSTIN – A local company is moving its headquarters to the suburbs, attracted in part by government incentives.

When it moves into its new 33,000-sf Pflugerville facility, MTech — a commercial heating, ventilation, air conditioning, electrical and plumbing services company — will become that city’s largest employer, according to a company announcement.

An agreement approved by the Pflugerville City Council on June 11 gave the go-ahead for construction of a $3.5 million building at 1720 Royston Ln.

Within the $365,000 performance agreement, MTech agreed to construct a building of at least 30,000 sf, invest at least $3 million in infrastructure, bring 178 employees to Pflugerville, have an average salary of $40,000 plus benefits and sign a ten-year lease.

In exchange, the city will award the company $2,000 for each employee hired, not to exceed a total of $356,000. The company expects to have about 300 employees there in the coming years.
