SAN MARCOS – In October 2013, San Marcos CISD officials are planning to begin construction of a new $18.4 million athletic stadium and other projects approved by voters.

Currently, the district does not have a stadium facility and rents Bobcat Stadium from Texas State University for athletic events. The district’s athletic complex will have seating for 8,000, a 4500-sf press box and will be owned, maintained and operated by the school district for the first time in its history.

Additionally, a new $12.7 million prekindergarten building for 600 students will be constructed on the site of the Old Bowie campus. A new $5 million Phoenix campus for 250 alternative education students will be built as well.

Construction of the new stadium, prekindergarten facility and Phoenix Learning Center are scheduled to conclude in August 2015.
