Waco: Work on Hillcrest Cancer Center progresses
WACO – The Hillcrest Hospital Cancer Center is due to be finished in October. Construction on the $19.5 million cancer center at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center began in 2012.
The two-story, 34,400-sf building will sit on 3.8 acres of what now is the front lawn of Hillcrest’s main campus at I-35 and Loop 340. Right now construction workers are concentrating on the first floor, which will house chemotherapy infusion bays with 20 infusion chairs.
A linear accelerator vault has just been built with concrete walls ranging from three to six feet thick.
The chemo pharmacy and lab services will also be on the first floor. The second floor will house mainly offices for oncology service administration.
