THE WOODLANDS - The Woodlands Development Co. plans to begin construction on Two Hughes Landing, the second Class A office building in its development on Lake Woodlands. The building is being built on a speculative basis, but there has been strong interest from tenants, spokeswoman Susan Vreeland-Wendt said.

The developer, a wholly owned subsidiary of Dallas-based The Howard Hughes Corp., will break ground this month with a completion date scheduled for spring 2014.

The building will be a part of Hughes Landing, a 66-acre, mixed-use development that is planned to feature upscale restaurants and entertainment venues, a specialty grocer, hotel, fitness center and up to 800 multifamily residences.

The 197,000-sf, eight-story building is designed to be LEED Silver-certified and will be the second of 11 office buildings in the development.

One Hughes Landing, the first Class A building in the development, is also 197,000 sf and eight stories. Major tenants include Layne Christensen Co. PetroQuest Energy LLC and Summit Midstream. The building was topped out in May and is scheduled for occupancy in September.
