PASADENA - Intercontinental Terminals Company (ITC) has begun construction of a tank terminal with ship-docking facilities and ten tanks in Pasadena.
The tank terminal is expected to help ITC meet growing tank demand created by a shale gas boom and growing petrochemical needs. ITC acquired the land, a 180-acre parcel with approximately 1,250 feet of water frontage on the south side of the channel near the Beltway 8 Bridge, three years ago.
The company said the site, which includes access to the Houston Ship Channel, is well suited for multiple docks for ships and barges and has access to roads, rail and pipelines. The $150 million facility is expected to open during spring 2015.
ITC also owns and operates a 265-acre terminal facility in Deer Park on the ship channel.
