VICTORIA - Incoming apartment buildings could soon ease Victoria's tight rental market.

Three new complexes — the Colony Apartments and Latigo Crossing Apartments, both off John Stockbauer Dr., and The Reserve, off Zac Lentz Pkwy. — will bring a combined 456 new units to town.

Nancy Garner, who co-owns The Reserve with Victoria businessman James McHaney, said their project has been in the works for years since they opened their existing apartment complex, The Whittington. With Victoria's ongoing growth, she said, now is simply the right time to get started.

Kevin Langston, president and CEO of Langston Construction, The Colony Apartments' contractor, also cited Victoria's growth for his company's decision to build. "We've done our due diligence, and the apartments that are there now are full or almost at complete capacity with waiting lists," he said.
