SCHERTZ - Amazon.com has begun hiring hundreds of full-time workers at the company’s new fulfillment center in Schertz.
Seattle-based Amazon developed the 1.26 million-sf fulfillment center in the San Antonio suburb to pack and ship customer orders. The center is currently under construction between Lookout Rd. and I-35.
Exterior construction is substantially complete, giving passers-by a clear vision of the finished product. The completed structure will house about 350 jobs which promise to pay substantially more than minimum wage as well as provide benefits and Amazon stock grants for full-time employees.
Employees will receive a comprehensive benefits package that includes both health insurance and company stock awards. The median pay inside Amazon fulfillment centers is 30 percent higher than people who work in traditional retail stores.
Workers in Schertz will handle large, spacious items like televisions and kayaks.
