HUTTO – In half a year, Hutto has issued almost as many residential permits as it did in 2012 and surpassed the amount in 2011. The trend is expected to continue, pointing to what some are referring to as a housing boom in Hutto.

Riverwalk, Hutto Highlands and Carol Meadows have been the most active subdivisions this year.

“Through the end of June, our monthly average of single-family permits in 2013 has been about 35. That is a notable increase from last year’s monthly average of about 19,” Hutto Director of Development Will Guerin said.

In total, Hutto has issued 222 new residential permits from January through July 2013. By comparison, the city issued a total of 226 new residential permits in 2012 and 189 in 2011.
