H-E-B opens Austin Mueller store
AUSTIN – The 83,000-sf H-E-B grocery is open in the Mueller development northeast of downtown Austin near I-35 and 51st St.
The store, 1801 E. 51st St., has hired a staff of 315 employees. Construction of the structure is estimated at $12 million, while the fuel station construction was $430,000.
There is a casual restaurant in the store dubbed Cafe Mueller. The store also has a community meeting room, sushi bar, tortilleria, cheese shop and olive bar, meat market, deli, wine shop, flower boutique, pharmacy and kitchen demo area.
The goal of the new H-E-B is to reduce energy use by 50 percent, though current projections estimate it will operate at a 79 percent reduction.
