HOUSTON – Houston remains a hotbed for clinical jobs. Hospital sector job openings have increased nearly 25 percent year-over-year.

Three of the top five companies with the most job listings in the area are hospitals, according to Simply Hired Inc.’s August 2013 Employment Outlook.

The top five companies with the most Houston area job listings on SimplyHired.com include

  • HCA Gulf Coast: 1,011
  • McDonald’s Corp: 1,002
  • Houston Methodist Hospital System: 962
  • Texas Children’s Hospital: 816
  • Halliburton Co: 640

About two-thirds of Houston Methodist Hospital System’s job openings are clinical — anything from physicians to nurses to allied health professionals — said Willie French, the system’s director of talent acquisition.

Methodist planned expansions at each of its locations and even added a west Houston hospital in recent years.

"As patient census grows, we staff up another flow," French said. "There’s a steady increase, a definite incline (in patients) at each of our locations, and we’ve expanded the capacity of those locations to accommodate patients."
