HOUSTON – Phoenix-based Sprouts has opened its fourth and largest Houston location at 11940 Westheimer Rd. at South Kirkwood. The latest store is 32,945 sf, and had an estimated construction cost of $2.1 million, according to state filings.

Other Houston area Sprouts locations include:

  • 25,300 sf in Cinco Ranch, which opened in April 2013 at the southwest corner of Cinco Ranch Blvd. and Peek Rd.;
  • 29,500 sf at Copperfield Village Shopping Center, which opened in July 2013 at FM 529 and Hwy. 6;
  • 28,000 sf in Spring Cypress Village, which opened in March 2013 at FM 249 and Spring Cypress Rd.

Sprouts is among a half dozen companies turning up the heat this summer in Houston’s already hot grocery market.

Austin-based Whole Foods Market Inc. announced plans to relocate its Houston Woodway store to a site less than a mile away, doubling the size of its current location in the process.

After opening its first Texas stores in Houston in summer 2013, North Carolina-based The Fresh Market Inc. unveiled even more growth plans for the Lone Star State.
