DILLEY, FRIO COUNTY - The second phase of Sendero Ranch housing development has opened. The complex targets workers in the booming Eagle Ford Shale.

The gated community, located an hour southwest of San Antonio in Dilley, has 85 two-bedroom, one-bath cottages. The first phase, located in the nearby town of Pearsall, is about 75 percent leased.

The largely rural area has been unable to handle a rapid influx of oilfield workers. Even though development of the oil formation could continue for as long as 20 years, many still are housed in dormitories and campsites.

The Sendero Ranch developments offer on-site management, private driveways, covered porches, flat-screen cable TV, high-speed Internet, maid service and laundry facilities.
