SAN ANTONIO - Between April and June of this year, construction began on 2,258 single-family homes, according to second quarter 2013 analysis by Metrostudy. That figure marks a 1.7 percent decline from the 2,297 starts during the same three months in 2012.

“New-home demand remains strong, but a lack of lot supply in the highly desirable areas slowed production in the second quarter,” said Jack Inselmann, a senior vice president of Metrostudy.

However, closings were up considerably. There were 2,094 home purchases completed between April 2013 and June 2013. That figure marks a 12 percent increase from the 1,826 homes purchased during the same three months in 2012.

“The outlook is still bright for the San Antonio new-home market,” said Inselmann.
