AUSTIN - Work on the $50 million HID Global Corp. facility in North Austin has been on an accelerated pace since construction began in January.
The 250,000-sf manufacturing and office project will be finished by the end of the year, and the security device manufacturer has started hiring some of the 35 to 40 people it will bring on staff before operations get underway in the first few days of 2014.
Now that a critical mass of workers will be based in Austin — about 280 by mid-2015, Bohrer said further discussions might take place to consider whether it makes sense to maintain the Irvine headquarters.
For now, the focus is on the new facility under construction at 611 Center Ridge Dr. near I-35 and Parmer Lane in the TechRidge area.
