WICHITA FALLS – In July 2013, 150 homes were sold compared to 121 in June 2013. The dollar volume of homes rose more than $3 million from $15.5 million in June to $18.5 million in July, with an average sale price of $123,805.

In total, 878 homes have been sold in 2013, 78 more than at the end of July 2012. Five of the seven months in 2013 have outpaced those same months in 2012.

July was the second-busiest selling month in 2013. Only March, at 159, saw more homes purchased. July was the busiest month of 2012 as well, with 132 sales.

"The shrinkage in our market volumes has been more pronounced than other markets in Texas and now seems to be recovering at a slower pace,” said Michael Detrick of Nortex Realty.

“Compared to a number of Texas housing markets which are experiencing inventory shortages, double-digit sales volume increases and rising prices, the Wichita Falls area still has an extremely favorable and affordable housing market,” said Detrick.
