MONTGOMERY COUNTY - Woodforest, a 3,000-acre master-planned community between the Woodlands and Conroe, is experiencing new home sales that are 82 percent higher than the same time in 2012.

Through August 11, Woodforest has sold 318 homes, compared with 180 sales through the same time period in 2012, according to Kristi Steward, Marketing Director. Overall In 2012, 308 new homes were sold, up from 129 in 2011.

Employment growth in The Woodlands area and the development of Exxon Mobil’s campus is fueling demand. A third of the sales are to relocation buyers, said Virgil Yoakum, general manager for Woodforest.

There are 16 builders in the development, and homes start at about $200,000 and go to more than $1 million.

Additionally, the developer of the community, Johnson Development Corp., sold 718 home sites totaling 252 acres to Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Taylor Morrison, according to Steward.

Taylor Morrison will build Bonterra at Woodforest, which will feature three different floor plans and homes ranging from 1,600 sf to 3,500 sf. The home sites will be available to for buyers 55 years and older to build on in 2014.
