Lubbock companies to add jobs
LUBBOCK – The Lubbock Economic Development Alliance (LEDA) will issue $130,000 in incentive funds over five years for Tyco and Shearer’s Foods to bring 95 new jobs to the area, which will have an estimated $10.2 million annual impact on the county’s gross regional product.
Tyco Fire Protection Products produces fire suppression technologies for commercial and residential customers. The expansion of the company is projected to create 81 new jobs, resulting in a combined total of nearly $2.3 million in new salaries, said Kenny McKay, director of business retention for LEDA.
Shearer’s Foods, a snack food manufacturer headquartered in Brewster, Ohio, first opened a Lubbock plant in 2005. Since opening their Lubbock location, Shearer’s has created more than 200 new jobs, said McKay.
The $44,500 incentive from LEDA will assist Shearer’s in creating 14 new jobs with a capital investment of about $2.6 million.
