OLDHAM COUNTY – EDF Renewable Energy has broken ground on the Spinning Spur II Wind Project, situated on 27 square miles of farmland in the Texas Panhandle. The 161 megawatt (MW) project will be comprised of 87, 1.85 MW, 80-meter GE turbines.

Contractor, Mortenson Renewable Energy Groups, expects to hire approximately 200 people throughout the course of construction of the project, which is scheduled to be completed in May 2014.

As one of the first projects to connect to the CREZ transmission lines, Spinning Spur II will generate enough electricity to power approximately 50,000 households.
