CORPUS CHRISTI – The Coastal Bend region’s not seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for July 2013 crept down to 6.2 percent, two-tenths of a percent lower than the month of June. This decrease is a 0.6 percent change from July 2012, with 8,233 more people employed in the Coastal Bend.

Bee County (7.1 percent) and Refugio County (4.5 percent) experienced the greatest monthly unemployment decrease of 0.4 percent from June. Nueces County (6.0 percent) and Refugio County (4.5 percent) saw the greatest drop over the year, with changes of 0.8 percent and 0.6 percent, respectively.

The Corpus Christi MSA employment by industry increased by 6,800 jobs from July 2012, with the Mining, Logging, and Construction (3,400), Leisure & Hospitality (2,100), and Education & Health Services (1,000) industry super sectors adding the largest number of jobs over last year.
