KAUFMAN, KAUFMAN COUNTY - Walmart has broken ground on a 158,579-sf Walmart Supercenter in the Kings Fort Development on the south side of US 175, just east of SH 34.

Construction costs for the new store are estimated at $7.5 million, according to state filings. Construction is expected to be complete by May 2014.

JWS Land Ltd. sold Walmart 19.137 acres with frontage on US 175.

Kings Fort is an almost 300 acre commercial and residential development. Walmart’s new store will be the first part of an eventual $250 million retail, commercial and residential development.
